Todd and I spent a thrill filled afternoon at the Ramen Museum in Yokohama. Pretty cool place made to look like 1950’s Tokyo. There are 9 places to try different types of Ramen, unfortunately our stomachs only had space for 2 of them.

Fukuchan – Hakata Ramen

Ide Shoten – Tonkotsu Ramen

Schwarzenegger limited edition Ramen!

Hoppy is a non alcoholic beer that you mix with Shochu and has always intrigued me. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I found it to be pretty nasty and couldn’t finish. It certainly didn’t help that I picked some cheap ass Shochu to mix it with.

Hung out in Koenji with a group of fellow Gaijin (Foreigners). The evening included my first Corona in Japan, some Yaki Niku at a Korean restaurant and finished off with some karaoke.

Went to an all you can eat and drink Beer Garden on the top of a mountain with great views of Tokyo and Yokohama.
(From Left to Right: Me, Natsuko, Miya, Scott, Daniel and Masako)

By far my favorite part of this place. They have these Beer machines you just put your glass in the little holder and push a button. The best part is it automatically tilts the glass forward for the pour and then stands it upright at the end to add just a little bit of foam to the top. I want one of these!

Went for some Beer and mediocre food on the rooftop of teh Keio department store in Shinjuku. Luckily it was a relatively cool night. Sadly we sat a little too close to one of their speakers which was playing and endless loop of tacky Hawaian music.

As you can see by the time difference we were there a while.

Ok so its been like a month and a half since my last post… Why? I headed off to New York for almost the entire month of July for a much needed break from Japan life to see my friends and family and eat a few foods that I have been missing. One thing I did learn while in NY, I don’t miss it as much as I thought I would.
Everything Bagel with Lox and Cream Cheese from Ess-a-Bagel (Best Bagels in the world)

Franks Pizza on 23rd St.

Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich on a Bagel… mmmmm greasy.

Patsy’s Piza

Brooklyn Lager, still my favorite Beer

Poker, I miss Poker games most of all.

Teddy’s Williamsburg Bloody Mary, sadly these have lost a little of the kick they used to have

Teddy’s Williamsburg Poblano Omelet, still as good as ever.

At the grocery store they have these little individual sized juice box packages for Sake. It comes with a little straw and this particular package really does look like its aimed at kids. I always had Hi-C Jammin Apple in my brown bag lunch as a kid, maybe if I had these I would had grown up a little different, like in Jail!

This isn’t really Ham beer, its just a promotion to win a free Pepper Ham. For some reason I find it amusing. Can you imagine a Good ol’ American guy walking into the store to get a case of Bud and changing his mind because if he gets the case of Coors next to it he might win a holiday Turkey?

Another beer down the hatch. This one is pretty good but is only seasonal. There are a few other seasonal beers I need to try.
