A Vision of Students Today
This is completely unrelated to being in Japan, but I found it to be well done and interesting.
About This Video
a short video summarizing some of the most important characteristics of students today - how they learn, what they need to learn, their goals, hopes, dreams, what their lives will be like, and what kinds of changes they will experience in their lifetime. Created by Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University.
This is completely random to post here but I felt like telling somebody about my dinner. These frozen vegan BBQ riblets from Gardenburger tast just like the McDonalds McRib. Weird?
I found out today we will be able to break our lease early for our New York apartment. This is great news since I was worried we might have to keep paying rent for some time after we moved out.
I should have some additional good news from Natsuko in a few hours or so. She should be signing the lease for our new apartment in Tokyo soon.
13 years younger, 20 pounds lighter and a seriously full head of hair. Uh huh, yeah thats me freshman year in college. I’ve been packing for my move to Japan and just dug up this gem.
Yesterday I sent out an email to sell the stuff that we can’t bring to Japan. My very new 42″ Plasma
TV is the one that makes me sad to part with
it hasn’t been 12 hours yet and some people already seem interested.
Most online radio stations are down today in an effort to support the INTERNET RADIO EQUALITY ACT, S. 1353. Below is what is posted on Pandora.com my online radio of choice. Visit http://www.savenetradio.org to help.
A Day of Silence
Hi, it’s Tim from Pandora,
I’m sorry to say that today Pandora, along with most Internet radio sites, is going off the air in observance of a Day Of Silence. We are doing this to bring to your attention a disastrous turn of events that threatens the existence of Pandora and all of internet radio. We need your help.
Ignoring all rationality and responding only to the lobbying of the RIAA, an arbitration committee in Washington DC has drastically increased the licensing fees Internet radio sites must pay to stream songs. Pandora’s fees will triple, and are retroactive for eighteen months! Left unchanged by Congress, every day will be like today as internet radio sites start shutting down and the music dies. My wife is 6,762 miles (10,882 kilometers) away but I get to see her every day. Before Natsuko left we got her a brand new white macbook and shortly after that I got myself a black one. The macbooks are so nice and the built in webcam is fantastic. Every morning and every evening we log on to Skype to see and talk to each other. I know webcam chat is nothing new and can never replace being together, but it really helps ease the difficulty of us being apart for 3 months.
I also must admit that deep down inside there is a part of me that gets excited that this is really like the Jetsons!
My departure to japan is fast approaching and I realized there are going to be many things I will miss about New York. One of things I might miss the most is all the food I enjoy. This is my list of all the things I need to eat before I go in no particular order.
Indicates eaten =
- Falafel from Mamoun’s.
- Dirty Water Dog (I can’t remember the last time I had one but I feel I should have one anyway)
- Street Pretzel (ditto)
- Ess-a-Bagel (best bagel in the world)
- Ali Baba Turkish food (Yogurtlu Doner )
- Taco Bell (Guilty Pleasure)
- Serious Hamburger (so many choices, Shake Shack, Jackson Hole, Smith & Wollensky etc…)
- Cuban Food from Sophie’s
- Mexican (I’m a sucker for anything with cheese and sour cream)
- Indian (anywhere on Lexington Ave. or 6th street should do)
- Pizza (nothing beats a NY slice, too much to choose from)
- Brunch at Teddy’s in Williamsburg (Poblano omelet and Bloody Mary)
- Street Fair Sausage and Peppers
More to come as I think of it.
