This truck is by far the worst musical truck offender in my neighborhood. The thing comes around int he mornings delivering refills of oil cans for heating peoples homes. The song it plays is on and endless loop even if the truck parks in front of a house for 5 minutes. If I actually had decent Japanese skills I would probably report this one to the police.

Musical Trucks – Oil Truck
This is the first in my new series titled “Musical Trucks”. Japan seems to be filled with little trucks that drive around playing all kinds of songs ranging from cute and innocuous to down right intrusive and infuriating. This morning I heard/saw this truck for the first time. I believe it was a large garbage pickup truck. Tokyo doesn’t have Spring cleaning days like I had in NJ where you can leave your over-sized trash on the curb and the city would pick it up after the local scavengers took anything useful. Here if you have large items to throw away you must pay the city to remove them. But there are a number of little trucks here that drive around from local junkyards or fix-it people looking for your larger trash hoping to get some useful items and will take them off your hands for free. When these trucks drive through town they usually play a little song and list the items they are looking for over a loudspeaker. For example: Bicycles (自転車), Refrigerators(冷蔵庫), Televisions(テレビ), etc… I am actually not positive that this mornings truck was a large garbage truck as I had a hard time understanding the announcement and part of it actually sounded like a Muslim Salah (Prayer) to me. Hopefully soon i can provide some videos of these trucks complete with audio so everybody can get the full effect.
