For those of you who don’t know Tsukemen is basically a reverse Ramen. The noodles and broth are separate and yyou dip the noodles before eating them. This wasn’t bad but there were a couple things I didn’t care for. The noodles were a bit too thick more like Spaghetti and the broth was a bit too fishy for me. Plus I think I just prefer Ramen over Tsukemen.

Tsukemen

I have been here at Yottekoya before but this is the first time I had their Red Cheese Ramen. It was pretty good but not as good as the cheese ramen from Tukumo.

Ivan is a fellow New Yorker who thought he would see if he could hang with the Japanese Ramen Elite. I think Ivan is hanging in there just fine if not better than fine. This 醤油全部のせラーメン (Soy Sauce Everything Ramen) was definitely one of the better bowls of Ramen I have had here. If you are ever in 芦花公園 (Roka-kōen) defenitely drop by for a bowl.

More local Ramen

This was a pretty good bowl of Ramen though nothing special. But it is always good trying some more neighborhood Ramen.

This was surprisingly good. Not that I don’t think vegetarian/vegan food can be good, I just didn’t think it would be possible to pull off Ramen without animal parts.

My Ramen Mistake

Posted By: modernangel76 on 30 April 2009 in Food, Japan, Ramen

Went to Kyushu Ramen in Harajuku a bit excited to try out what I saw on their website. Unfortunately I made a mistake and ordered their regular ramen instead of the 全部入り (Everything inside). The regualr Ramen was good but nothing special. I guess I’m gonna have to go back and try again.

Had a good bowl of ramen at a little place right here in Tsutsujigaoka. Too bad it took me so long to discover it.

Ramen

Had some Ramen and Spare ribs at this Greasy Spoon in China Town. Ramen was good though nothing special. The Spare ribs where pretty boring.

This was a very satisfying bowl of Ramen in Ebisu. I will definitely return for a round two. Good Toncotsu broth not too thin noodles and the chyashu (pork) was super tender.

I thought the Tonkotsu Ramen here was quite good. But Natsuko and I seem to have very different opinions on what is a goood bowl of Ramen. Even though we both really enjoy Ramen we haven’t agreed on which ones we seem to like in some time now. I guess the search will continue for great Ramen.
