Pretty good bowl of Ramen in Shinjuku, though it was a bit too oily.

麺屋武蔵 – Menyamusashi Ramen
After the Ramen museum Todd and I hit Kirin City for some beers in Machida. Japan seems to have a love affair with Beer and a lot of foam, but Kirin City brings it to a whole other level. So much so I had to go home and learn how to ask for no foam with my beer. So the next time you are out and a little worried about too much foam be sure to say Awa Nashi De Onegaishimasu (あわなしでおねがいします).
It got pretty dead after the table of Obaachan (Grannies) behind us left…
Not a very happening night in Machida.
Todd and I spent a thrill filled afternoon at the Ramen Museum in Yokohama. Pretty cool place made to look like 1950′s Tokyo. There are 9 places to try different types of Ramen, unfortunately our stomachs only had space for 2 of them.
Fukuchan – Hakata Ramen
Ide Shoten – Tonkotsu Ramen
Schwarzenegger limited edition Ramen!
Had some Niboshi Ramen in Chofu. Niboshi Ramen’s broth is made from small crunch dried sardines which wasn’t bad but not really my thing, just a bit too much of a fishy flavor for me. Too bad because the pork and the egg in this Ramen were top notch.
My parents came to visit recently which was really nice. I hadn’t seen them since I left NY 8 months ago. They had a good time going around Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura and Mt. Fuji. but it was a bit tiring playing tour guide for a week. Here are some the highlights from their trip.
Mt. Fuji
Imperial Palace (Tokyo)
Tokyo Tower
View of Tokyo from the Tokyo Metropolitan Building
My parents first Ramen

Probably the best Ramen I have had so far in Japan. Waited on line outside for about 10 minutes before noon to enjoy this. Too bad is so far far away and I can’t go back anytime soon.
Ok so this was a first for me. The bathroom at this Ramen shop has a little button you can press to make a flushing sound effect. Apparently the point of this is to mask any bodily noises while in the bathroom.
Mutekiya Ramen right is top on my list of the best Ramen I have had so far here in Tokyo. A sign of a good Ramen shop is often a line to eat and we waited about 10 minutes around 11:00 at night to have this one. I had the “Honmaru Men” which was oily pork goodness.
This was one of the better bowls of Ramen I have had so far in Japan. But it wasn’t good enough to be considered “great” and not nearly as good as I expected considering this website has it ranked as the 6th best Ramen in Tokyo.
